The Candidates
Michael Beach is a dedicated husband, father, and lifelong advocate for the Barrington community. He and his wife, Sharon, are proud to be raising their two children, Kaylin and Mason, here in town. Whether it’s cheering on Barrington’s local sports teams or spending time outdoors fishing, crabbing, biking, and hiking, Mike values the strong sense of community and the quality of life that makes Barrington such a special place to call home. Professionally, Mike is a proud member of IBEW Local 351, where he has served on multiple boards and committees throughout his career. His work as a skilled tradesman has not only provided for his family but also given him the opportunity to support local charities and lend a helping hand to those in need. In public service, Mike is seeking his fourth term on Borough Council. During his three previous terms, he has worked tirelessly alongside his colleagues to strengthen Barrington. Together, they have helped attract new businesses to town, invested in upgrades to local parks, and supported the men and women of the borough’s first responder community. Under their leadership, Barrington has even been able to avoid tax increases in multiple years - a reflection of their responsible fiscal management and commitment to residents. He looks forward to building on past successes, tackling new challenges, and representing the community with dedication, integrity, and care.
Alisha VanBernum has proudly called Barrington home since 2015. She and her husband, Joe, knew it was the perfect community to raise their two children, Bailey and Joey. Alisha grew up just a few miles away in Haddon Township and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and Special Education from LaSalle University in 2013. In 2024, while working full-time and raising two young children, she completed her Master’s Degree in Special Education along with a certification in Teaching Visually Impaired Students. Today, Alisha works as a Special Education Teacher and Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Philadelphia, while also serving as a professor preparing future educators. Deeply committed to giving back, Alisha is an active volunteer in Barrington. She can often be found at the girls’ softball fields on weeknights or cheering on Little League games on weekends. She supports the Barrington School District as a room parent and helps with fundraising events for the APT/WPTG. She and her family also enjoy supporting local farms and vendors at the Haddon Heights Farmers Market, grabbing coffee at Berri Caffeinated, spending time with friends at Tonewood, and enjoying the outdoors with neighbors. For Alisha and Joe, Barrington has been the perfect place to raise their family, build lifelong friendships, and be part of a close-knit community. Alisha is excited to take the next step in serving her town—representing you as a Councilwoman for Barrington.
